Mikayla Hammond has always been interested in creative endeavours, she attained first class Honours for her Bachelor of Design at Massey University in 2017 and is a strong participant in this years’ PFW intake. An experienced manual and digital patternmaker, Mikayla prioritises sustainable processes when sourcing materials for her garments, she is inspired to create a conscious Capsule Collection that focuses on craftsmanship.
Pushing the boundaries of ready-to-wear fashion Ms Hammond would love to dress Eva Kruse, the president and CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Summit, a forerunner in promoting sustainability in the garment industry. Zeroing in on womenswear, Mikayla enjoys New Zealand artists such as Broods to keep it moving in the workroom. PFW is expecting some great self-dyed fabrics and considered embroidered finishes from Mikayla for this years show.
Mikayla is currently a tutor at The Design School- Whangarei. She still creates designs for Mikayla Lakin
